Job Summary

We are seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to contribute to our growing team. The candidate will be responsible for designing fire sprinkler systems that meet NFPA standards, local building codes, and specific project requirements. This role demands proficiency in industry-specific software, demonstrated experience in hydraulic calculations, and a strong understanding of fire protection systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and layout fire sprinkler systems using AutoCAD, Revit, or industry-specific software (e.g., HydraCAD, SprinkCAD).
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and create comprehensive design plans, including layouts for pipes, sprinkler heads, and other system components.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 20, IBC, and other relevant codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and project managers to refine system designs.
  • Review architectural and mechanical drawings to coordinate fire protection layouts with other construction systems.
  • Prepare thorough material and fabrication lists to streamline installation efforts.
  • Assist with permit documentation and secure approvals from Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Provide technical support to field teams during installation and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in project meetings and conduct site visits as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • 2-5 years of experience in fire sprinkler system design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, HydraCALC, or HydraLIST.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic calculations and fire protection principles.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes, local building codes, and industry standards.
  • Effective problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints.
  • Strong communication skills for team collaboration and client interaction.

Preferred:

  • NICET Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout (Level I, II, III, or IV).
  • Experience with BIM coordination and 3D modeling.

Education & Certifications

  1. NICET Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  2. OSHA safety training is a plus.
